Mitsubishi WD-65733 Mess

I've got a WD-65733 and while watching TV this morning we heard a loud pop from the back of the TV and lost picture.

Reset the TV and went to turn it back on, waited for the green light to stop flashing and powered on TV, all sounded fine during reboot until I heard a buzzing from the back. Looked back there and saw a blue arcing light through the vent, just right of center if facing the back.

The set tries to reboot 3 times, hence hearing the buzzing three time, then it stops trying to reboot and red lamp light turns on.

No picture....no error codes, only 12.

Is this a ballast? Can I repair without purchasing entire board?

Help!

First check the lamp; it's probably blown.
Look in the manual for how to easily remove it.

Hi,it sounds like it could be the color wheel or just the lamp that needs replacement. If you hear buzzing ,whirling or high pitch sounds it could be the color wheel(which is a disc looking that has a gamma of colors that creates the color on your tv.But if tv is between 1-2 yrs old it could just be the lamp that needs replacement. This will be the lamp you need http://www.discount-merchant.com/Mitsubishi-915P061010-Lamp-Complete-lamp-assembly-p/mitsubishi-915p061010-lamp-enc.htm part number is 915p061010 It could be the ballast only if you hear clicking or like tv trying to power on.God bless you!

Hi in this situation the first thing i would do is is check the lamp most probably when you look at it it will be blown, if there is no physical damage then its not the lamp the sound was probably the color wheel braking and that's why you are hearing the buzzing please reply so I can help you more with this problem bye :hithere:

Looks like I have an identical problem. Pop, no picture then off. Then as I try to re-start there is a buzz, whitish blue light at the lower left and rear of the set for +- 5 seconds.
Then nothing. I tried the re-set more buss and whitish blue ligh. still nothing for a picture.
Naturally the set is liek 18 month's old. My last Mits lasted 24 years and still ticking

Is this somethig I should/can be testing swapping etc..

Safe bet that it's the projection lamp. Directions are in your owner's manual.

Yep, same thing happened to me. Replaced the lamp and back in business. Even though this is an old post, it would be nice for original poster to come back and let others know what they did and whether the problem was solved.
