OTA after launch

Hi. At the moment I have an OTA antenna to get Fox and NBC High def (DTV allows me to receive ABC and CBS, but blacks out those previous 2). Does anyone know for sure if we'll be able to get ALL Locals in HD once the new satellites are up and running? Or will the same rules still be in affect? I'm hoping I can take this thing down from the roof once it happens. Any help would be appreciated.

According to D* - yes. However, there are a few variables to take into consideration before you get out the ladder and socket wrench:

1. D* has to offer HD locals in your market. They're reportedly starting with the 12 largest markets first. (I'm in the 30th largest myself so I'm SOL for a bit)

2. D* has to reach an argreement with your locals to broadcast their feed. I wouldn't worry about the 4 big networks, but if you have any local independents broadcasting in HD they might not be available right away.

Assuming the above is met yes, your local HD channels will come from D* like the SD channels currently do and you will not need an OTA antenna any more.
