Did my VIP 722 die?

This morning my 722 was working. Later in the morning I noticed it was rebooting every 10 minutes. I tried to turn it on but nothing. This is what I have done so far, any other suggestions appreciated.

1. did reset with power switch. Green lite came on and fan running. Green lite goes out after a few seconds, all lites blink, fan running. Fan stops, 722 doesn't turn on to acquire sat. Tried to turn on with remotes, nothing.

2. Unplugged box for 20 minutes. Same scenario as above.

Tried above with TV on and off.

Keeps rebooting every 10 minutes or so, same thing happen as above. but does not turn on. The box stays warm even after several hours.

I pay a DN DVR service fee every month so I guess I am leasing. I do not have the Dish Home Protection Plan, will I have to pay for a new box,shipping or what.

Call Tech Support...if they can't help you get it going over the phone they will send out another most likely.

Sounds like either a heat/sensor issue or your hard drive is gone bad. Probably in need of a new unit. They will send you a replacement 722 for free, but if you don't have the protection plan, you will have to pay shipping (like $15 I think).. My 622 did the same thing a while back. They had to send me a new unit. I pitch a fit about having to pay the $15 shipping fee, so they waived it.

Have never been charged a shipping fee for a receiver exchange. I'd be pitchin' a fit myself!

If you have the "Protection Plan" thingy, you don't have to pay for shipping. I think the plan costs $5 a month or something. I had my 622 and a 212 die on me and they wanted to charge me shipping on both. But after I bitched and moaned they waived it on both..They then tried selling me plan.. I said I would get back to them.

Mine was also doing the same constant rebooting thing. Eventually I concluded it was an overheat issue. Even unplugging the unit, it takes a very long time to cool down. Refrigerator, NOT FREEZER, overnite should resolve between an overheat and a hard drive failure.
If no joy with that remedy, they will ship a replacement unit. When they try to charge $15 for shipping, the magic term you need to say is "I wish to cancel". You get put thru to customer retention and they will refund the charge.

I just checked my statement, no PHPP.... maybe it's because when I call the robot says "you are one of our most valued customers.."....maybe 10+ years with them has something to do with it. Whatever...I would bitch about paying it though if it did come up.
