Hi there,
I have been debating on weather to purchase the HD H10 in time for the Sunday Ticket, or ,Wait till later in the year, probably next year for the MPEG4 version (I would really rather go with the MPEG4, but want the NFL too...)

From what I've been reading, mpeg 4 will be distributed by areas, if this is correct, am I wasting my time waiting , My market is 70..???

Do you think you will be able to purchase the MPEG4 version, even if it is not available in my area yet ???

I need some opinions,

I would like the Mpeg4 DVR but now am concerned that it is going to be very expensive.
I would like to get 2 HD receivers, will they give me 2 dishes also, one would evenually go to the 5th wheel., here again Mpeg 4 if available.

If you really want NFL games in HD and willing to pay or negotiate the price then don't bother waiting...

Is there any certianty that D* will offer to upgrade to MPEG4 at a discount.
I'd hate to spend $600 for 2 receivers, and not be compensated if I really want the MPEG 4 next year.

Would the offer be better for new subs vs current ???

Of course everything is speculation at this point,
D* usually has a very good offer when August comes around, Something like buy NFL ST and get 4 months programming free ...

I thought I read somewhere (maybe this forum) that along with the first 12 markets, HD NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers (Superfan) would get their equipment upgrades as well. I think you will need the new equipment to view the HD games.

From what I understand, if technology or system changes on D* doing, they will offer thier affected customers equipment upgrades at no cost.

They'll still be using MPEG-2 for a while so there's no reason for anyone outside the 12 markets to require the new equipment just to watch HD games.

My guess is the data stream will still be up for MPEG-2 for all markets for quite some time. Look how long it took DTV to switch their access cards. It took at least 2 years until that process was complete!

I talked w/Kris at directv 'cuz the installer is coming next week and i didn't want to buy a receiver that maybe outdated next month. She guarantees me the upgrade to the new receiver will be free
