Wii Games Not Playable When Connected To Cable Box?

My sister has a set of stairs with a closet underneath. Their Westinghouse TV is hanging on this wall and their components are hidden in the closet with the cables coming through the wall directly behind the TV. They can control everything via a RF device.

They currently have their Wii connected the the composite input of the cable box and it works fine. All they need to do is select the video source button on their cable box remote.

They have a problem with the downloaded games for the Wii such as the original Super Mario Brothers. There is only a black screen when they launch these games. There IS audio though. The strangest part is that when they actually pause the game, the video finally shows on the screen. When you unpause it the video goes black again but you still have sound.

At the moment it's a PITA to get some composite cable extenders hooked up so we can bypass the cable box and go right to the TV although I feel that's the culprit.

Any ideas?

If the TV is an HDTV you should do that anyway. Except you should get the component cables for the Wii and that way you can set the Wii to 480p which is the best the Wii can do.

Other than that I have no idea.
