Sony 34XS955 or 34XBR960??

Hi, I'm trying to decide which one of these to buy. I'm a little concerned about the shear bulk of the XBR, but does it have advantages over the XS955? Also should I buy the extended warranty? Is there any history of problems on either of these?
I really appreciate any info offered.

Go with the XBR,
It has an HD tuner built in and also a very nice PiP feature (Split screen picture in picture)
Over all a very nice unit.

XBR is Sony's top of the line in that size.
The Quala (takes the place of the XBR, but only available in 60" and 70")

You won't be sorry with the XBR, sharp crisp picture in CRT format...

They both have the built-in tuner and same picture tube. The only real difference is the PIP feature. Either one will give you a great quality picture.

Sorry cnq50,

My mistake, I was thinking about the series before the XS.

I would still buy the XBR if you can swing it.

XS is a step below XBR, however there are many lower grades as well.

I have always went with the top of the line that I could afford.
I still have a 27" XBR in the bedroom I bought in 1991 and looks as good as it did the day I got it.

Home theater tv is the 60xbr950

Only the XBR models have Firewire for recording.

thanks!! The store is closed today, but I'll probably be going for the XBR tomorrow. I've put some large speakers on my TV stand to get used to the bulk that will soon be there.

Thanks again. :)

Circuit City just matched the price - my boys brought it in - it's not as gigantic as I imagined!!! The picture is great! I can't imagine how great it will be when I get hi-def cable - hopefully it won't take too long.

 cnq50,

Your 1st HD ???

You got the 34 XBR right ?
You will enjoy it for many, many years.

At least till you find room for a larger HD set !!!

Sony seams to run forever,
My 91 xbr still going strong.

Just as you think you have everything just the way you want it , something else comes along.
Shortly after I bought my 60XBR, I decided I needed the newer audio.

Yamaha RX-V2500, 5.1 Dolby Digital,

I use to have the old Pro Logic variaty, can't remember the model, but it was about 10-15 years old, but still worked fine......
