It's model number is 52SX4D-UB, the t/v is an LG 52" DLP HDTV. It's probably 5 years old and it's been on alot since I recieved it about a year ago. Well now if you were to turn it on it will scroll on the front 14 times (not the usual 7) and it turns on but slowly brightens and then by the time it is at it's peak brightness it shuts off., the red lamp light comes on. Need a new lamp? And is the right lamp if it's needed? > 6912B22007B LG / Zenith < Thanks! Jim.

Himorrison, this is the lamp for your tv:6912B22007B http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=6912B22007B+ it seems your tv will either carry a small and square or big and round lamp.Do you hear any strange noises cliking, buzzing, whirling sounds? if you dont its the lamp and because your tv is 5 yrs old and the lamps normally last 2-4 yrs 6000-8000 hrs.:hithere:

Howdy,Do you hear clicking,or like something trying to turn on? If you do it could be the ballast and thats the board that powers the lamp. Do you hear any buzzing, vibrating, whirling ,high pitch sounds? color discoloration, weird colors mixed? If you do then it could be the color wheel. Its a spinning wheel that creates the colors for your tv.If you don't hear any of those sounds, and because your tv is 5 yrs most likely its just the lamp that needs replacement. You can take it out and look at it to see if it looks shattered on the inside, foggy,or darken.;) Saw your lamp here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Original-LG-ZENITH-6912B22007B-LCD-TV-Lamp_W0QQitemZ140258896502QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_De faultDomain_0?hash=item20a814ea76&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116 For the big lasmp. And for the smaller lamp or http://cgi.ebay.com/LG-ZENITH-6912B22007B-Sml-LCD-TV-Lamp-for-Z52SZ80_W0QQitemZ360089469133QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH _DefaultDomain_0?hash=item53d70140cd&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

Actually your tv set is a LCD rear projection, so you don't have a color wheel in the set, like my friends said if you don't here any weird sounds then its probably going to be the lamp, i think the first step here is to buy a lamp and if that doesn't solve your issue you need a lamp anyway b/c this one is probably at the end of its life span (the lamp starts to run out when the ballast powers it up it starts to consume the mercury gas that the lamp has in the glass capsule) so after that i would change the ballast there around $60dls and if you replace both and still having this problem the nits going to be the Light Engine system but I'm pretty sure its just going to be the Lamp or the Ballast
Good Luck

So i ordered my new lamp and will install it when it arrives. But now am I going to have to reset the timer for the new bulb? Or just one of those things where you just take out the old and put in the new. BAM done?

Hi,here's instructions to reset lamp timer: http://www.fixyourdlp.com/blog/2007/06/25/resetting-your-lg-lamp-counter/ One easy way that works with most of the tvs is to unplug it wait 5 min and plug it back again.Good luck and God bless you!
