Networks or DTV

Recently many major network programs have run 5 or 10 minutes past the hour which really messes up scheduling recording of one show after another.. (i.e one at 8 pm and one at 9 pm) Usually the end of the first show is clipped off.. How can this be avoided or is it going to be the wave of the future.. shows of various lengths? Is this the networks little way of keeping viewers from switching to another network to watch another show by running their program past the start of the competitions programming? Very Frustrating to say the least!!

That is the exact reason. ABC was open about admitting to this a few years ago when Alias was still running. They would run the end of the shows over to the next hour so that people would record extra time and possibly see part of the show following it and stick with the show.

Another way around the DVR. As suggested above - extend your viewing to the next hour, there by allowing the network to keep your eyeballs longer.

Avoid the networks at all cost!! and your blood pressure will return to normal :)

This happened every week with American idol going into fringe. just add 5 Min's to end time and you should be OK.
