Preview Screen bars?

05-17-2009, 12:57 PM
During a preview screen and apparently only on a preview screen (bright green) do I see 3 faint bars horizontally across the screen from each line of white letters. Almost like a shadow.

This is the only time I see it...Is it this a defective panel? Or common occurence?

The lines stem directly from the white text?

Sounds like it might be a problem with your backlight or you may have it set too brightly. Also I'm sure it has more to do with the color of the preview screen rather than it being a preview screen in general. If it only happens with that particular color up, it may be the beginning of a problem that could show up all the time. In researching my Sharp LCD I found that this so-called "banding" is a relatively common occurrence but is more visible on dark images.

I'm new to the HD scene and could be wrong, but I hope that helps.

I looked it up a bit more and it appears to be a common problem with Plasmas called "Line Bleeding", apparently when it's an extreme change in colors (neon green on white) a faint line will go behind it.

Hmmm. "Learn to live with it" seems to be the answer to most problems with HDTVs.

I'd hate to hijack your thread, but I am curious as to how your PS3 looks on your plasma? I'm talking about objects that should be crisp, straight lines, but are instead very jagged and pixelated, mostly building edges, etc. or if everything looks perfect. Thanks.

Actually, it's the opposite. Things are much smoother on the plasma than on my LCD. For instance I play NBA2K9 a lot and the players used to have a jagged outline around them on the Sammy LCD, not anymore. The Panasonic handles the fast movement of the game much better too. I haven't played any other games but that one though.
