Hi everyone

I have just registered and this is a test to see if I can cope with the requirements to post, I am 74+ and that will be a turn off for some, how can a "oldie" know anything or be helped?

I authored my first DVD back in 2000 and have made 100's since using video from my Sony D8 or mini dv tape cameras together with digital stills that I began taking in 1997 with the Sony DKC-ID1 (somewhat out classed now of course). I do not own a D-SLR but simply an old Sony W1 and Sony H7 digital camera.

I shot my first 16:9 widescreen movie in New Zealand in 2002 using a full frame adaptor so as to achieve a better quality image than the cropped frame 16:9 could provide.

I have beta tested video editing programs for Adobe and Photodex.

It is time to get up to date with this HD stuff and get guidance on "where next" in this confusing IT world.

Somehow I found this site and got some good info on what to do to play a HD 1080i mpg file on the computer so I will be back to raise some questions and issues if this all works.

I live in Adelaide, South Australia

Cheers now

Welcome to the forum. Actually, having a member here of 74+ years while being interested in the latest tech is quite inspiring. :)

That, plus having a member that lives near all those beautiful wineries.

Thanks Guys

There nothing as interesting/frustrating/satisfying as the digital camera world and all the IT stuff that keeps coming into it

JMS: Great stuff! You obviously have done your homework. Years ago a fellow in Texas asked me "how long would it take me to drive to your home town"

Thanks a lot for the welcome

Nice pictures. You have seen a lot of the world.

Welcome, sticks! But I suppose, since I am still a ways short of 74, I will have to find a new screen name? Maybe "YoungerNSticks"?

Thanks a lot everyone for the kind comments. I worked as an Engineer but photography was my main interest, did wedding videos part time for 5 or 6 years before digital. Some stories to tell from that experience.
