I read about a humming when using a ps3 connected to an onkyo 606 is this correct for you 606 owners??? also, is the 706 worth the extra $300?

I have heard nothing but good things about onkyo's products, except for this hum only with the 606 model however. I can see that you dont much care for onkyo so what brand would you recommend?

I've loved Onkyo up until the *06 line.

I've just had no luck with them (2 failed 806's here). There are numerous reports of this happening with the PS3.

Some people have had great luck with the 606 and other *06 models.

But from my experience and what I've read, it's a roll of the dice.

Look into a Yamaha, Denon, or Marantz.

The 606 I have has performed flawlessly. I have no complaints what-so-ever. Great value.

I hope you guys read my thread about getting true HD with the PS3 (http://www.highdefforum.com/gaming-systems/93420-how-use-dolby-truehd-dts-hd-your-ps3.html), this is good info.

The "Hmmm issue" with many PS3's are far from isolated to the Onkyo 606. A majority of the problems happen with many different HDMI receivers and with just TV speakers as well. In many cases, this is due to a ground loop problem. The PS3 has a 3 prong AC plug and with the HDMI connection or coax to your TV/receiver, you have introduced another ground point.

There is a bunch of info about this n this site and on the web..
