can some one plz tell me if the Hyundai HQL260WR 26" LCD TV
is HDTV ready beacuse it says on the spec that it is HD compatible, however it says nothing about HDMI or DVI Input on the specification.

I pulled this off the internet. While I am not an expert, I urge you to spend a little extra $$ and get an HD TV with a tuner built in. ;)

HD Capable or Compatable.
Here the manufacturers are trying to attach a display that is not really HD to the HD term in order to make the display more marketable. Many EDTV plasmas will allow a HD signal to be sent to the display where the display will convert it to the native EDTV resolution. While they are not a HD display, they can advertize the HD compatability.

Note he is from the UK (prices in pounds)... HDTV tuners are not yet standardized there, although DVB-T digital TV is used by half the population...

Europe has not adopted the copy protection standards of North America, so you won't see HDMI on Euro models yet, either...

Although a unusual 15:9 aspect, the display is 1280 x 768 so it CAN display a true HD image...

His budget of 600 pounds is US $1100... for that he could get the 30 or 32" Syntax Olevia...
