Conflicting signals

How do I get rid of closed captioning on my Proscan 32" LCD? It only appears when the signal is coming into the HDMI inputs. If I get the signal from the coaxial cable input there is no closed captioning. I use Time Warner as my provider and have a Motorola DVR DCT6416 cable box.
I tried to find a place to shut off the cc but it looks like it doesn't exist, at least not in a simple form.

Over HDMI or component inputs I think the CC is being sent from the cable box. You have to look there to turn it off.

You are correct. I finally talked to some one at TW that knew what they were doing and weren't just reading from a manual. With the TV on and the cable box off I pressed the menu button and accessed the screen to disable the c.c.

Glad I could help!

I wish they sent the signal over those connections so I could just use the better controls in the TV over the STB, but they do not.
