Anyone have any news on when the new HDTIVO box will be out? I really miss my old HDTIVO. It was able to do more than the D* box does now. I could pause both channels at the same time, or just one channel. D*'s box will not let me pause either channel and toggle back and forth like I could with the TIVO box. Also the guide was much easier to use and search. Mark:busy:

I heard the new DVR will be out at the end of 2009.

You can pause the one program , then record the other program and use the previous channel button to toggle back and forth, or simply record both channels you wish to "pause" and again use the previous channel button to toggle. I never owned a tivo , but I think its what your used to that makes one perfer one model over the other. It's my understanding that the old tivo only had 30 min buffers verses 90 min. for Dtv. Not quite sure what advantage tivo might have to cover the very high cost of thier units verses $99-$199 for the DTV units.

Better stability with the software, not the problems that D* is having with their HD DVR's. The HR10-250 was an excellent box in my opinion. I would go back to a Tivo based box in a heart beat..... never had a problem with any of mine.

If the new HD TiVo is as good as my old HR10-250 was I would definitely prefer it to the D* HR series. The TiVo had a better program guide, was more user friendly, and more versatile.

I've had TiVos in the past.

I now have a DIRECTV HD DVR. It's different, but I don't think the TiVo DVRs are any better. I've never had any troubles with my DIRECTV HD DVR.

the main thing i didnt like about the tivo's is their software so slow. But the features were nice.

Is this Tivo DVR going to support DTV? And will it fully replace DTV HD DVR?

Yes, it will be a new DIRECTV/HD/TiVo DVR for use with DIRECTV service. I don't know about it fully replacing anything. They won't be sending a new DVR to every customer that currently had a DIRECTV HD DVR. I personally won't even be interested in getting one. The DVR I have now suits me just fine.
