Is this Philips HDTV Good for the Xbox/Xbox 360 and Progressive Scan DVD Players? Is this HDTV native resolution 480p and 1080i or is the 480p upconvert to 1080i

Wow, they dropped their price over $100 since last fall when I bought one.

As to your questions ...

I do not have an Xbox so I can't say, though I would expect it to do well provided you have the proper Xbox connection.

480 DVDs show up quite well on this monitor. Have never compared players on it. I have wathed some stuff on HDTV and later saw the same movie on DVD and have noticed a difference, that is, the HD version was much better. 'Step into the liquid' is one to compare as it have both HD and 480 on 2 disks.

I have never been able to find the official stats for this tv. All the manual has is about the remote and its many functions and nothing else. Local HD is at 720 from set top box.

This tv has HDMI whereas mine does not, it has component hookups. Other than that they look to be the same.

I'm just curious? Which brand of tube TV is better, Samsung or Philips?

I just got this TV last week myself for the bedroom. I don't have an XBox nor have I hooked up a progressive scan DVD to it yet (I watch my DVDs on a different TV). I'm very happy with the HD content.

However, the TV has turned itself off on me about once a day for the past several days. Then it locks up and I have to unplug it to get it to work again. I just sent an e-mail to their support. This thing is going to be a lot of trouble re-packaging and shipping out to be fixed. I'm not happy about this at all...

Also, the specs on the TV are found on that web page. It's a PDF document.

Is 480p upconvert to 1080i on this set.

No, seems to be presented as 480p (or 540p). This will only do a good job with 480p (EDTV) games, it can't display 720p without conversion to 1080i.
