OTA Edit Channel List Mystery

03-06-2009, 05:24 PM
I recently got home from college and found that one of the channels my parents had been receiving OTA digital no longer comes in. This was puzzling because all of the other digital OTA's still came in.

After doing a re-scan, I found that the channel in question- (NBC 10.1 Rochester, MN), is listing two separate channels for 10.1. The fist listed 10.1 pulls in 0%, but the 2nd 10.1 listed pulls in 90%. Clearly, all I would need to do is edit the channels listed, and remove the faulty 10.1 keeping the 2nd, right?

Wrong. After de-selecting the broken 10.1 and exclusively listing the 2nd 10.1, I returned to the channel lineup only to find that there is NO 10.1 listed! WTF? It turns up on the scan, I select it to be listed, and nothing!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I am lost here!

WHat box do you have? It sounds like you have an HD box that scans compared to a leter unit that does not and uses a database for listings. I'm gussing that you had a local station that changed frequencies for the digital transfer and there is being found on old outdated guide data and during a scan on the new freq.

Do an OTA antenna setup and see what happens. Advise your model number for better replies.

Have you tried:

1. Pull power plug on receiver, wait a minute, plug back in.
2. change OTA to a different zip code (90210), let download occur, and then back to correct zip.
3. (after #2) delete all your OTA chs and re-add desired OTA channels.

#2 should alter the master ch list, and overwrite the lower chs, then the correct zip should re download correctly.

I would think this would possibly fix things.

Good Luck

Ok thanks for the suggestions. I just had to go back through the initial setup process, after which the channel was recognized. Thanks.
