Keeping Local Channels

If (by some miracle) I were to be granted a waiver by my local ABC,NBC,CBS, & FOX affiliates, and allowed to receive the East Coast feeds, do I also get to keep my local channels for Non-HD broadcasts?

Thanks
Mark

It's time consuming, but be sure to write plenty of snail-mail letters, call them, and when you e-mail them, be sure to cc: the programming director of the network. It worked for me. Good luck!

To answer your question in whole: You do not need to ask to keep all your locals when you receive East coast HD feeds. HD feeds are in addition to your locals.

What treblehook is referring to is getting waivers approved for HD feed, not keeping locals.

Hope this clears up any misconceptions you may have.

Treblehook, Who was it that you wrote too? I want to write to whom ever so I can receive all the remaining networks in HD. Thanks

All you have to do is call DTV and tell them (lie) that you can't get your HD feeds with an antenna. They will send the letters out for you on your behalf, and it takes up to 45 days to get a yes/no.

I just did this yesterday... I'll post how long it took and if I was successful or denied.

DTV already sent a waiver for me if that is what you're talking about. All of my waivers were denied except for Fox (88).

Let me throw my two cents into this local/distant mess. If you had distant SD and HD nets prior to the bill signing last year, you will not loose those stations unless you move or cancell them yourself. Once this happens, you most likely will not get them back. Starting this summer DTV will light up the the twelve major markets for local HD. You should still be able to keep what you have had.

still seem to get the CBS and NBC local HD channels but recently lost my Fox local HD and never got my ABC local HD (past 3 months). Also went out and bought an OTA HD antenna and can't get a good signal from my apt building window. i'm screwed for at least 45 days and have little hope that DirecTv's waiver app will be approved. This blows.
