This is a new, now public poll for all the owners of the PZ80u and PZ85u to tell us how you either love the display or hate the display. Please tell us why you either love it or hate it. Remember this is only for OWNERS of these displays.

Well guess who put the first hate it, omeletpants:huh What part of the thread title did you not understand. Re-read it and you will come across a word OWNERS in which you are NOT. And you wonder why people don't respect your opinions (which are presented as facts) here. Another proving point why. Since you keep referring people to go to the AVS forum why don't you go hang out there and piss them off since you do it very well after reading some of your posts over there. This is getting old.

Can you explain WHY you voted in a poll setup just for owners? You knew that a new poll was set up for only owners to vote in to avoid skewing the numbers yet you voted AGAIN anyway.

I'm a serial voter and I'm so ashamed of myself. I see a poll and I can't help but voting. It's a disease, man. Even as a young boy when other boys were doing normal things like watching their sister getting dressed through the key hole or burning ants with a magnifying glass, I was busy creating polls then voting on them. You know those people that call you at dinner and try to poll you? Well, I call them and ask if I can take a poll. I just don't know how to stop taking polls. Can you help me find a 12 step program to stop voting?:crying:

It was a sad day at Golfreview.com today.

Classic came in with an invitation, and it looks like Besson has not responded... All that was left of the thread was a couple of 16 year old kids (Kirksey and master) for entertainment... not quite the kind of entertainment that used to be provided by Roscoe (Banned), Besson (Banned by Dorkman, but reinstated by Francois, but the wound still hurts him, I am sure), Omeletpants (Banned), and others......

Shameful state of affairs over there."

Thanks for posting why you voted as you did. Being a owner that sold it IS a legitimate vote, since you DID own it.

Before returning it did you use a calibration disc to adjust it properly, and did you use the CINEMA mode? I have read and found myself that using Cinema mode is the only truly accurate mode for this display. I know many of the settings posted on the net have Tint going into the minus setting, but when I calibrated mine I found that with color management off, the tint needs to be at +5 to get accurate colors.

We have had a few people come here stating that they didn't like the picture much out of the box, but after giving them my settings, they loved how much better it was. I think TVs need to have good settings to look good unless the out of the box settings are good, but they rarely are. I think Samsung usually has some pretty good out of the box settings though.

Here are some reasons, for me these were enough. I originally bought the panny to replace my Hitachi plasma which other than the occasional banding on SD material and weaker blacks was a great tv with very smooth processing which is the first thing I noticed about the panny not quite as smooth. I did calibrate the panny with a dvd. The lack of user controls and fine tuning readily available which forces you to access the service manual for any fine adjustments. I used cinema mode for all viewing which is another reason I was bothered no other mode really looked right and even cinema mode was quirky. I noticed I had the color flickering problem from different shades almost as though it was having a hard time processing. This has been a recognized problem with this set check out AVS forums/youtube(panny doesn't think so). The sharpness always seemed a little fuzzy never could achieve a nice clean crisp picture. The colors seemed to suffer also not very vivid and lacked accuracy I sat on it for 6 months with much tweaking as we know plasmas tend to get better with use whether or not this is a myth i'm not sure but it certainly did seem to on my Hitachi and my current Samsung. I dont think I had a defective set because when I see the panny in the stores they still exhibit the issues I had. I honestly thinked I rushed into getting the panny just to be labled as having a "panny" and really wasn't happy with it from the start but wanted to give it a chance. Now my Sammy on the other hand was love at first sight. I turned it on and haven't stopped smiling.

Well there you go, thanks for posting your reasons, I have the 80u and I have noticed in some cases the color should be better but at the same time still impresses me with stuff I didn't think would look as good. I have viewed some sammy's that look really good but I noticed they were a little weaker in the blacks, sears had it set up with its own HT and BD player going, its color did look good though. Its good that you found a tv that suits your needs:)

I love it, but that isn't saying much. The TV it replaced was a venerable old 27" Trinitron.
I had decided on Plasma a few years back and when the price on this model dropped into my 'zone', I snagged it.

No complaints so far. I just have to turn off the Viera Link though. Whenever I try to listen to a CD on my Panny BD35 BR, the TV has to stay on too, LOL!

I returned a Samsung 650 LCD (well actually 3 of them) due to bad flashlighting and bought a Sony Z series,it was a huge improvement over the Samsung but I just couldn't stand the motion blur (I watch a lot of sports)so I tried a Panny plasma and all I can say is that this is 100% better, everything now looks natural sort of like looking out a window, the previous sets made everything look artificial and exaggerated,it was cool at first but it got old fast
I see that Panasonic just came out with a new line and I'm going to purchase a G10 series for my living room later this week

I love my Panasonic TH-46PZ80U.

I just finished my 100 hours burn-in period (basically on 24-7) and I have no regrets about buying this TV.
It's in my bedroom and I occasionally hook the HDMI port to my computer's video card to watch movies off my hard drive and I couldn't be happier for the amount of money I spent.
Maybe I could get a better TV for more money, but I doubt I would notice the difference.

This is my first HiDEF TV, either plasma or LCD.
