I currently have a DTV HD DVR in my house. I have an office in an unattached garage behind my house. In the office I have an DTV SD DVR with a seperate dish. I called today to upgrade the office DVR to HD with a new 5 LNB dish. The rep told me I would not be charged for the install. I was looking at my account online & saw that I have been billed for the install. Is this normal?
I do not have a problem paying for the install, but do not like being told I would not be charged & then being charged.

Items on bill.
02/21/2009 Installation - Charge$99.00
02/21/2009 Delivery and Handling - Charge$21.35
02/21/2009 HD-DVR Upgrade - Charge$212.93

Total - $333.28

Also why am I being charged for delivery when the installer is bringing the DVR?

I would call D* and dispute the install charge in a kindly manner and definately tell them you are not paying the delivery charge.
I had something similar done a few months ago and I only paid for the HD-DVR Upgrade. I did ask the CSR their name when they promised me no installation charge when originally ordering and verified that it is no charge several times during the call though. Good luck.

Dispute the charge NOW!!!!!! Call and ask to speak to a team leader.

Possible cause would be that you have 2 accounts -they are counting it as an upgrade to HD -hence the charge.

I called Directv this afternoon & got a very helpful rep. She credited my account for the installation charge. She could not figure out why I got charged. I got an email confirming the credit.
