HDMI cable question.

I was at circuit city the other day trying to find a deal and saw that all of their AV cable's were on sale for 50% off so I looked through them and they had 120HZ and 60HZ HDMI cables. Now I know that 120hz Refresh is for LCD's but I was wondering if that higher transfer would do anything for plasma. Im not thinking about getting one but I was just wondering and I figured you guys would answer it. I only ask because I was at best buy and the guy had a 120HZ LCD on demo with a top of the line monster 60hz cable and then he switched it to the best 120hz monster cable they had(200 dollar cable) and the diffference was crazy.

So again just wondering if the higher transfer rate would effect the picture on a plasma. It may be a dumb question but I was just wondering. Thanks guys.

The signal is STILL only 60Hz and INTERNALLY the 120 Hz LCD displays double the scan rate, so I have to call this BS and downright fraud. I know people have called the ridiculous prices for cables at Best Buy as "snake oil", but now they have gone too far IMO.

All I can say is PLEASE do not waste your money on ANY type of Monster Ripoff cable. Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy overpriced dribble.. The 120hz thinggy is processed in the TV itself and not fed through the HDMI cable from a source, so WTF:banghead:.. Bottom line is save that money..Buy a HDMI cable from Monoprice.com for $10 or Walmart for $25 and rest easy..

Q. What is the difference between a “Standard” HDMI cable and a “High-Speed” HDMI cable?
Recently, HDMI Licensing, LLC announced that cables would be tested as Standard or High-Speed cables.

Standard (or “category 1”) cables have been tested to perform at speeds of 75Mhz, which is the equivalent of a 1080i signal.
High Speed (or “category 2”) cables have been tested to perform at speeds of 340Mhz, which is the highest bandwidth currently available over an HDMI cable and can successfully handle 1080p signals including those at increased color depths and/or increased refresh rates. High-Speed cables are also able to accommodate higher resolution displays, such as WQXGA cinema monitors (resolution of 2560 x 1600

Makes you wonder how many people they get with that trick. Dirty Pool IMO.

I could see it happening, if someone just bought their new tv and have no idea about any of this stuff they could easily be talked into something like this. Just think of the number of people that come on here asking for answers and then think of the number of people that don't know about this site or other sites, those people are the target of the salesman :) It sucks but its true.
