I used some Circuit City Gift cards I saved to recently order a 36 inch tv stand. It's made by a brand called Z-Line.It's 36 inches with two shelves..and the whole stand is made of tempered glass. The stand weighs almost 300 pounds ! It is being delivered.

I called one of Circuit City's stores and asked how easy is it to assemble this and would I need any screws to put it together?
The CC guy put me on hold and came back to the phone and told me no nails or screws needed..you just stack it on top of each other to put it together.

Are any of you familiar with this type of tv  stand? Is it really THAT easy to assemble?

I had something similar where you just lay the "board" on top of the posts, screw the post in and stack them up. Very easy to do.

The posts are something similar to this picture. You screw the posts into each other which means there is no screws or nails.

BBB -- Read a little closer: It FITS a 36" TV and HOLDS up to 300 pounds. The stand itself probably weighs about 100 pounds at the most. Your XBR weighs almost 200 lbs, so this will hold it (if it fits). The reason I say "if it fits" is because of the 4 posts on top. You might not be able to get your 34" widescreen to fit between them. That stand has 4 caps on the corners that significantly limit the width of a set that will fit in there. I know for a fact that my 34" widescreen Zenith would not fit because I measured the stand at the store. I wanted that one because of the price, but I ended up having to go with this one because the whole top is flat with NO caps:

Z-Line Stand (http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/82360/originURLEncoded/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.circuitcity.com%252Frpsm%25 2FcatOid%252F-12892%252FN%252F20012866%252B20012885%252B20012892 %252B4294959701%252B312885004%252Flink%252Fref%252 Frpem%252Fccd%252Fcategorylist.do/rpem/ccd/productDetailSpecification.do#tabs)

You better check this out before it's too late just to be sure.

btw, Both stands are really nice. I'm very happy with mine. Much better than the Sony standard issue. As for assembly, the one you are getting is so easy to put together even a child could do it, so you won't have too many problems. Mine was a lot more difficult but not too bad, because I followed the directions carefully and had it together in about 90 minutes.

 Not True..at least from the reviews of customers who also bought this tv stand at Circuitcity.com...one review after another says.."I put my 36 inch SONY tv on this stand and it looked fantastic..
"I have a 34 inch Sony myself...and I thin k it will look great on this stand..by the way"
NO review said the tv would'nt fit on it..again even people with a 36 inch SONY for this 36 tv stand said it fit and looked great.

First of all, knock it off, numb nuts! We're just trying to help, so chill out....

As for why it wouldn't fit, here's one possibility. The 34" is a 16:9 widescreen and the 36" is a 4:3 standard. So if you knew anything at all about math, you'd know that the screen size of a 36" 4:3 set is 28.8" W x 21.6" H , and a 34" 16:9 set is 29.7"W x 16.7" H . So with everything else being equal (speakers, bezel, etc...) the 34" would actually be about 1 inch WIDER than a 36". Fortunately for you in this case the 36" Sony and the 34" Sony are both set in 39.1" wide frames

36" Sony 4:3 (http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/94932/rpem/ccd/productDetailSpecification.do#tabs)

34" Sony 16:9 (http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/96194/originURLEncoded/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.circuitcity.com%252Frpsm%25 2FcatOid%252F-12868%252FN%252F20012866%252B20012867%252B20012868 %252Flink%252Fref%252Frpem%252Fccd%252Fcategory.do/rpem/ccd/productDetailSpecification.do#tabs)

Z-Line Palisades (http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/82359/rpem/ccd/productDetailSpecification.do#tabs)

Yes, your Palisades stand is 44" wide. But what I was saying is that the post caps take up a couple inches at each corner. If they are each 2" wide and they are inset 1" from each side, you would lose 6" of TV space. That would leave only 38" BETWEEN the posts, meaning you'd have to put the TV in back of the front caps. And since the set is 23.9" deep part of it would hang off the back. I didn't say you are definitely going to have a problem, I merely suggested that you check it out. The cabinet of my 34" widescreen Zenith is 41.7" and it definitely would not fit BETWEEN the post caps.

34" Zenith Widescreen (http://www.zenith.com/index.asp?url=./sub_prod/subCategory_Display.asp%3Fcat%3D46)

For your sake I hope it does fit but it's gonna be close. If it doesn't you won't be LOL'ing then.

Next time, cut the Prozac in half, and lose the "WHATEVER" .....

Calling people names in this forrum is immature and rude.
As I said earlier I even went to the reviews by customers who bought this particular model stand at the circuitcity.com website. There were something like 60 reviews about this stand.People even with a 36 inch SONY said it fit just right! I own a KV-34HS420 Sony.

Numb Nuts??? :hithere:

I don't care if it DOES hang out in the back over the caps. It's no big deal to ME.

Back in my wild and foolish days,,,last week,,,I used to post crap on the competitions "review" sites just to lead people astray. Very naughty of me. But since me reformation,,,last weekend,,,I decided to post nothing but blatant facts on review forums. The fact is,,,,don't go by the reviews and bring a tape measure next time. And don't wear those fuzzy goggles you mentioned in another forum.

rickbbb

I doubt that 60 reviews would all be fake at the circuitcity.com website. One or two YES..but not 60 !

oblioman
06-15-2005, 05:03 PM
My point being is that your judgement is just as good as those other 60. Actually better because you know what you want. Don't get me wrong,,the review sites are great, but it's up to you to digest and make the right decision for you. This brings me back to the TV stand and a tape measure. Make sure it fits before you buy.

So,should I have bought a 50 inch stand for a 34 inch tv????
I don't mind if the back of the tv DOES stick out..as long as the tv stays on the stand.I'm not THAT picky! And it's okay if it sits on those corners..No Big Deal !

Depth: 23.8 Depth: 22 :D

Let me simple down for you: Overall width might be 43, but USABLE width is LESS up front due to the caps. Good luck sitting your 200 lb TV on top of them if it don't fit.

Oh, and btw, take a tape measure with you the next time (Oops, Oblioman already TOLD you that THREE TIMES!!!) LOL :D :D

Those were the exact measurements of my tv and the stand I posted earlier.
If I have to I'll put the tv on top of the corners of the stand..CC store said I could do that and it will stay like that. :yippee:

oblioman

Rick,,I would be extremely reluctant putting your tv on top of the caps (if you have to). You have a 200lb. tv and you will be creating stress points where the tv meets the caps and could damage your TV. Imagine it like doing a pushup with your palm flat on the floor vs. a fingertip.

:yippee: You had the WRONG STAND in your mind.
I got my stand today and assembled it..there were no corners on the top of the stand that stuck upward or inward for that matter. The top of the stand is completeley flat.My tv fits perfectly on it with a little extra room to spare.

Since you advised me not to buy this stand...you were wrong.I appreciated your opinion...but you had this stand mixed up with a different model..unless last years Z-Line stand was different to this years model I bought.
My tv looks fabulous on this stand.I am so happy with it!!!!!!
I'll be adding my review to the Circuit city website today.
I bought this on sale for $94.00. It looks like a $700.00 tv stand.

Let's see, how can I put this nicely: "DON'T BE SUCH AN IDIOT!"

Of course I know you posted the measurements earlier. That's why I put it in "QUOTES".
Also, I never saw you post the EXACT model number of the stand you were buying, nor did you ever post a link.
And there is NO WAY you could put that SONY on top of the caps, if in fact that had happened. You are lucky it didn't.
Go back and read this entire thread, SLOWLY, with your brain turned to the "ON" position. You will see we were only trying to help. Your first post clearly had two "misstatements of facts" (errors) which is why I urged you to be careful. At no time did I, or anyone else, tell you NOT to buy this stand.

Mrkazador was the first person to post measurements, not you: Post #7 (http://www.highdefforum.com/showpost.php?p=49166&postcount=7)

Here are the measurements you posted: Post #20 (http://www.highdefforum.com/showpost.php?p=50001&postcount=20)

If you check closely, you will see slight differences (Width 44" vs 43" and Depth 24" vs 22"). But even a slight difference can mean you are talking about 2 entirely different stands. Why is it that you never followed up on Mrkazador's post #7 ? Why did you wait until your post #20 to give the exact dimensions, and even then you made no reference to the differences and did not give a model # or a link? I think you may have misled us from the start. How about giving us the exact model # and post a link? You accused Oblioman of having the WRONG STAND in his mind. Whose fault is that? It seems we all may have had the WRONG STAND in our minds, but that is not our fault. That is YOUR fault for not being specific and clear. So don't SHOUT at him with CAPITAL LETTERS.
Judging by your many other posts in this Forum (one "r", not two), it seems like you have more problems than just a tv stand. You might want to check out the Yellow pages for some help...
Check with a moderator if you want. My posts back to you are becoming increasingly hostile, but I'm not about to take any crap from someone who ignores facts (i.e., "ignorant" -- that's the definition) and posts inciteful (no, not "insightful") replies with comments like "WHATEVER" and "LOL". That "WHATEVER" thing is something you usually hear from a female; you don't often hear a guy say "WHATEVER" in that manner. And LOL can be used correctly, but it can also be abused. I know very clearly the manner in which you intended it and it was definitely out of line. If you're just looking to waste time on a message board and pi$$ people off, then congratulations -- you've succeeded. But if you want serious assistance with HD related issues, you better learn how to reply in an appropriate fashion. Comprende?

p.s. I realize that the word "inciteful" is not in the dictionary, but it is a frequently used term meaning "likely to incite or antagonize".

You sure? These aren't the dimensions you posted earlier: Previous Post #7 (http://www.highdefforum.com/showpost.php?p=49166&postcount=7)

From your new post:
Dimensions: 23" x 43" x 23.6"
Inside dimensions: 9" x 36" x 20"
Weight capacity: 260 lbs.
TV and components not included.
Also, the weight capacity is different too (260 vs 300).

We'll have to see if wacko gets back with a model # ; til then, adios!
