OK I was planning on purchasing a Vizio 32" LCD flat panel. The only Audio out it has is digital optical (Toslink). I was planning on getting a Sony home theater system that has digital optical (toslink) input. Well... MY DVD Player has the standard red white yellow, red green blue, and digital out coxial hookups. My Xbox has an HDMI port for audio and video. Basically my plans were to do this.
Hook the HDMI cable up from my XBOX to my TV. Run the digital optical (toslink) cable from my TV to my surround sound receiver. For Xbox 360 surround.
For DVD surround I was planning on hooking up the audio out on the DVD (Red and white) to audio in on the receiver (red and white).
The top left port (digital SAT in).. HTDDWG700 (Sony Model NO.) is that for digital optical (toslink) video?
Would I also be able to get surround on regular tv viewing?
Would this work?
