Question about saving shows from DVR

Hi All,

Sorry if this has been posted before, I did try searching...

What's the best way to save shows from a dvr if I don't have a vcr hooked up to my components?

I hope that makes sense; I'm not much of a techie as you can probably tell....

Thanks!

I run S-video and stereo audio to a DVD recorder. If you could find a DVD recorder with component inputs you might get better video BUT you would need to set the DVR to 480p probably.

By the way HD shows still look fairly good over S-video. Close to perfect DVD quality but not HD of course.

One of my wife's friends actually likes the S-video picture better. :banghead:

DVR -S-video> DVD Rec -Component> TV

In the US, composite or S-Video are the only inputs allowed on a DVD recorder.

Overseas, you can get better inputs and "sneak" it back into the US

I use one of these: Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR Video Capture device (http://www.highdefinitionblog.com/?page_id=331) and save the files on a USB hard drive. They can be played back via my computer or via a Western Digital TV HD Media Player (http://www.highdefinitionblog.com/?p=346). All in HD!

I have an inexpensive SR2000 DVD player/recorder that has component input and output as well as composite and S-Video.

I use a DVD recorder, using svideo input, and it looks like crap. I quit using it.
