On the Sharp (Canadian site) there is 2 firmware updates. I download the update to my flash drive ok. I put the flash drive in the TV as directed but I get an error saying the firmware update will not work in that model TV. Another error message I get is there is nothing on the flash drive.

Any thoughts?

Did you properly format the SD card? Have you followed the instructions here?

It works if you remove the space after avsforum. For some reason, this forum will not properly parse any avsforum URL.

Yep thanks, got the url fine. My set does not have a SD slot. It has a slot for a USB thumb drive. I D/L the firmware properly as per the manual. I spoke to Sharp USA & Sharp Canada. They talked me through the updating process and when it failed they recommended a Sharp dealer to come in. He's coming tomorrow between 12 and 3.

I guess I was formatting the thumb drive incorrectly. It is supposed to be FAT not FAT 32.

Just had a ton of "fun" getting my 40" Sharp Aquos updated. Had a 2GB USB flash drive, formatted it as FAT32, and that didn't work. Then FAT16, no dice. Then FAT12 and still couldn't get the TV to read the update. So I found a 256MB flash drive and it hit me that perhaps the disk size was too big. So, I made a 30MB partition (FAT12) and finally, the TV read the update, but failed to execute it. So, I figured the partition size was too small. I re-formated the disk with a partition of 99MB and viola ... success. So, if you're having trouble with your update, make sure the disk isn't too big and it's FAT12.
