i have and pay for quite a few tv's and cable boxes and hd dvrs, throughout my house. Now I have a few questions. Upstairs in my house i have a comcast regular non-hd box with all pay channels, on one tv and split the cable before the box to go to another tv without a box, just screwed into the tv. now when the digital switch happens i know my boxes will be o.k., but on the tv where i have no box will i needa digital converter box or not? i hear cable companies are not switching off their analog channels, just the ota broadcasts are getting turned off. if i do need a box can i use a tivo non-hd dvr as a cable box?

No it doesn't.

Switch only affects Over-The-Air TV reception.

I don't care what comcast wants to do. The OTA switch has nothing to do with comcast making the customers switch to digital cable boxes.

My gf has comcast in a major city and she still gets comcast basic analog cable service without a cable box just fine.

well seanandnik was talking about comcast not OTA which you where talking about.

Like I said some cable companies are all digital. Cable does not have to follow the OTA deadline, but most keeping a small analog tier until 2012
