New 811 And Bad Advance Tech Department

06-08-2005, 03:17 PM
I had a bunch of long outstanding problems with my 811 receiver for almost 6 months now ! The screen would freeze, some channels would say NO SIGNAL,Remote would'nt turn the channels-Dish Advance tech told me that was an ongoing problem with the older 811's.Which I owned.
Since I originally bought my 811...I spoke with Dish Technical and they sent me a new updated 811..and I sent them back my old 811 at no cost. The picture on my tv is 110 per cent better and the channels turn faster.Only complaint I had was when i talked to the first tech about how to set up my new 811..he gave me attitude and talked down to me..finally i told him" I don't need this..I don't need your attitude and rudeness...I had a hard day myself..I worked all day." All of a sudden he quieted down ....but did'nt apologize.I stuck to my guns and said I'd rather have someone else help me from technical..He said ,they'll give you the same answers I'm giving you.He told me to call back and someone else would help me..so I did..and the lady was great! She was patient and helpful and supportive.and I was able to completley set up my 811.She said to wait 20 minutes to turn the channels. Then she said have a nice evening and thankyou for being so patient with me.She was so sweet and humble...So I waited 20 minutes and turned the channels on my tv and everything looked great..except I had to change the screen size in the 811 receiver menu from 420p to 1080i...THEN it all looked Fantastic !

Not such a bad track record for Dish network..in the 3 plus years I've had Dish I only dealt with one rude person..and it was the guy from yesterday. When i had cable tv they were pretty rude most of the time.Seems like a distant memory to me now.Thank GOD !

:yippee: My new 811 says MPEG 2 on it and some other other technical jargon.Am not sure if my old 811 had MPEG 2 being part of it's software. But in the menu of the remote ..the point dish signal screen is much different looking than the old 811's Point Dish Signal screen has a different design and and faster results.
