Terrible ABC HD Quality Time Warner Durham

Hi all,

I recently moved to Durham and purchased an HD TV and Time Warner cable(with the HD package of course). The first thing I noticed was the ESPN HD didn't look nearly as sharp as when I was in Atlanta. Now I am watching ABC HD and the picture is just awful. It resembles SD except in wide screen.

Is there anything I can do about this? I'm currently just using the component cables that TW gave me. Would switching to HDMI or better component cables help me? Unfortunately switching to satellite is not an option as my apartment does not face the right way.

This is really pissing me off because I pay extra for HD and this just isn't it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Tweak the settings in the cable box, i.e. 16:9, etc.
Report back and you forgot to mention your stb model.

Sorry, I have the Explorer 8300 HD DVR from Time Warner. I have tweaked all of the settings that it offers to no avail. I'm starting to worry that it might be the service, which would suck. CBS looks okay, but ABC is awful and the Fox HD channel isn't even coming in in HD! It's 4:3 SD. Maybe I will have to give TW a call....
