Viewing SD on a Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ80U 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV

Can anyone expound on how this unit does with SD? I realize that is an open question and a lot depends on other factors. I also have read the sticky about viewing SD on a HDTV, and will use it to my advantage once I have my new HDTV in place. But by and large if things are done right can I expect worse, the same, or better than I would get SD on a CRT from this unit?

Thank You.

It does as good as a HD TV can with SD. It will look softer than on an older conventional SD CRT TV but will display SD better than most LCD TV's.

Did that help?

I certainly like mine, I can say I haven't seen a better picture on ANY TV save the Pioneer KURO which costs much more.

I never knew until TODAY that the 80u came in 42,46, and 50!! I wish I had cause Best Buy was having a sale on the 46" for $999! Best I found the 50" for (locally) was $1399 that would have been something I may have been interested in (the 46" that is). Starting Sunday the 11th Circuit City will have the 46" on sale for $1399! (or possibly $1299 due to an error in their ad)

I dont get why other makers dont make a 46" plasma that is quite the jump from 42" to 50" that would open up their market a bit more as well.
