Cat's chewing on cable wire?

Ok, I know someone here must have at least one cat and have the same issue. We have two of them and one or both get a kick out of chewing on wires, especially my coax cable. Is there something out there that you are using that's deterring the biting? I hooked up my new Blue Ray player last night and my cable was chewed up beyond belief.

I had a kitten that did that once, and I yelled at him, and hit his backside lightly, and he never did it again. He was chewing on a electric wire, and it scared the chit out of me.

Try googling some pet sites, or forums. I'm sure you'll find more people there with the issue/solution than here.

My cat does the same exact thing. I just keep all wires wrapped up neatly and tightly behind the devices. She WILL NOT go near electric wires. It's like she knows what will kill her and won't chew the lamp cords. But speaker cable it's a toy to her. And I've put lime juice on them, sprayed anti-cat stuff, nothing works.

Also our christmas tree is her favorite scratching post. The scratching post I bought her made of similar material is NEVER touched. Cats are rediculous.

Cats are ridiculous.

My friend has a cat who gets high with her, and whenever she'd take out her bong it would run to it! I laughed so hard when she told me that story :D

I'd try one of those hard plastic cord cable management things. Where you put power/video inside it.

When I was MUCH younger I dated this girl who LOVED her some marijuana. And when we were smoking only 1 of her 3 cats showed any interest and it would take hits with us. I mean we'd need to blow the smoke at her. But it was better then any catnip you'd ever see. In fact my cat doesn't even like catnip.

BTW - I think that cat outlived the others. She was probably more relaxed. :D

I went over to my friends house when we were teenagers, and their household had mice, and roaches, needless to say, I did not go over there often.

One day my friend takes me into her room, and is surprised that her weed is gone. She suspected a family member, but that was not true. The roaches, and the mice were stealing her stash. who the hell knew they liked to eat weed, I sure didn't.

You could try coating the wires with hot sauce. Works for dogs wanting to eat poop. Put some hot sauce on the poop and they won't go near it. More than one way to skin a cat. Hmmm... Skin the cat, yet another idea!

Shit just plug it in connected to nothing and dip it in catfood that should solve the problem.

I actually tried pouring pepper on the garbage cap after my dog thought it was his food court. It turned him away for real.
Not sure, it'll work with cats or others.

One scary thing happened to my friend's pet, don't know what to call it. (It looked like a mouse mixed with a rabbit with a long fur.)
It was biting her TV's wire and got shocked and unconscious for 30 seconds. Then she woke up and ran to her owner, my friend told me that her pet never again walked near any wire. So funny though.

Remove the cat's teeth. No seriously, I have used Murphy's Oil Soap, just wipe a bit of that on the wires, and I guarantee you the cat will only try to chew once. They get one taste of that crap and they will never touch the wires again.

Try this stuff:

You could also try wrapping the oustide of the cable with crumpled up aluminum foil. It should feel bad in the cat's mouth.

Wires should be properly wrapped or these should be hanged somewhere so that it could be out of the reach of pets. otherwise there could be serious trouble

Wipe your wires with a paper towel coated with Frank's Hot sauce, one lick of these will surely deter any feline with a brain, wait, do cats have brains?
