Advice Needed; new plasma

I have sold my old faithful Panasonic TH-50PX77U (720P native) to a good friend who has promised to love it as much as I have. I have talked myself into a new (1080P native) plasma. I have narrowed my search to two contenders. I want to buy from Costco because of the return policy and the free extended warranty.

1. Panasonic TH-58PZ800U, on order but not shipped yet so I have a few days to cancel if I change my mind. My concern is that it may be too big.

2. Pioneer PDP-5020FD.

I sit about 11 feet from the screen. I watch mostly TV programs from my DirecTV DVR. I may buy a blue ray player and watch an occasional movie. No gaming and I won't use it for a computer monitor. Price of the two is about the same so that's not a factor, but $3000 is my limit so the PDP-6020FD would be to spendy for me.

Is the 58 inch Pany to big? Is the Pioneer really better than this Panasonic?

Any input will be appreciated.

58" is just the right size for that viewing distance. That model of Panasonic has gotten rave reviews and has been noted as getting very close to the Pioneers so no I don't think the price difference is warranted.

Thanks for the reassurance Loves2, the TH-58PZ800U shipped today and I'm now convinced it was the best choice. :) I looked at some of the charts and calculators and as you said 58 inches should be great at 11 or 12 feet. I downloaded a PDF of the owner's manual from Panasonic today so I'll be ready for it.
