50pz80u Questions???

Got my 50pz80u and i have a number of questions regarding my new tv so here it goes:
1.) I have a laptop cable lock, is there any place to put it on the TV?
2.) I've noticed a lot of stations that have there logo on the bottom of the screen make it sort of a faint color or cloudy so the basic color of the screen still changes. Is this ok since the color is changing during break in?
3.) I have DTV and some channels have bars on them, or just the commercials have bars on them. is this normal?
4.) Is there anyway to select the HD resolution on the tv channels or are they just broadcasted whichever way the company chooses?
5.) Is there a way to choose which resolution my bluray player produces, or does it automatically display the highest quality?
6.) I thought i read on here between hdmi and component there is virtually no difference, however my manual says hdmi produces the highest quality picture. is there a difference?

I probably have some more questions i am forgetting at the time, but i'll just post them up. Thanks for everyones help in advance.

Well here goes a feeble attempt on my part: #1 No, not without altering the pedestal, and if somebody was going to take it, all they would have to do is unscrew the set. #2 As long as you don't leave the tv on a station with a ticker for a long period of time I wouldn't worry about image retention. #3 DTV broadcasts what is fed to them. If a commercial or show isn't in HD it will have bars. You could try changing the screen format for full screen viewing (during break-in of set)#4 you can try changing the resolution of your DTV receiver, I find that I get the best picture when my DTV receiver is set on 1080i. #5 I know my panny bd-30 will output 1080p when playing a blu-ray disc through HDMI. #6 Component cables will theoretically carry 1080p, but are crippled from doing that due to software restrictions ( at least as far as I can figure out looking on the avs forum ) HDMI will carry a 1080p resolution. 1080p has twice as many lines of display as 1080i.

Ok thanks for your answers. I greatly appreciate it. Now i have a few more questions:

7.)i have the panny bd35, how can i change the resolution?
8.) My xbox 360 has a 1080p option but the screen just goes blank when i apply it, i have it hooked up via component, does 1080p only work through hdmi?
9.) i have a DTV Hr22 receiver, how do i change its resolution?
10.) Does HDTV viewing require hdmi input or can i use a component connection? Asking this because i'm pretty sure everything broadcasted hd is not 1080p. So there would not be a difference correct? Or are some channels able to produce 1080p?

You can use component to get HD up to 1080i not p.

You need HDMI to get 1080p.

I don't own the BD35 but there must be a menu button or a setup button. You usually cannot have a disc playing or else you will get the disc menu instead.
