Lamp problem

I am getting a message on my screen at startup saying it's time to replace my bulb. Does that mean that the bulb is about to go or could it last a while longer?

If I have to replace the bulb, is it a difficult job or should I hire a tech to do it? The bulb is right behind the front panel as seems very easy to get to.

Should I get the bulb directly from Mitsubishi or from a third party?

Not long ago, I asked where to find the best prices on lamps and I was directed to http://www.discount-merchant.com/.

I bought a lamp from them and was very satisfied.

Depending on the TV model, you may be able to get just the lamp without the whole housing. This will save considerable cash if you don't mind doing a little extra work. They have instructions on their website on how to do this for various tv models. They also include with your order, an instruction sheet on doing it. I have a Mitsh WD-62628 and this was a pretty easy process and saved me almost half over what Mitsh charged for the whole thing.

As of when to buy the lamp, I would do it now. I waited until the lamp went out and had to do without TV for a couple of days until the new lamp arrived. Next time, I'll have a spare on hand.
