Samsung LNT4081F vs LN40A550?

This might be a bit strange comparison. I was shopping around for a LN40A550 (current-gen middle-of-road) at the $1000 range but noticed that the price for LNT4081F (last gen top-of-line LED backlit) has dropped to about $1200 which made it very attractive. I wouldn't mind the $200 bump if it means signficantly better picture. What do you guys think about one vs. the other? I am concerned about the glossy screen of the LNT4081F since the TV will be facing quite a few windows. Are there other con's for the LNT4081F that I should watch out for? Any other reason for the big price drop for the LED set other than the fact that it's been discontinued?

Welcome to the forum! :hithere:

The LED back lighting will give you much better black levels and remove one of my biggest complaints about LCDs compared to plasmas.

Personally, I think the LNT4081F is a better display just because of the LED back lighting and I say go for it. You are getting the prior year (really only about 4 months) model display for a bargain price. Look up the reviews of it and see for yourself.

Hope this helps!
