Video chiefs at the major studios are moderating their growth projections for Blu-ray Disc software sales in 2008, which seems lower then predicted.

Blu-ray sales lower due to negative economic conditions (http://www.hdtvinfo.eu/news/hd-video-formats/blu-ray-sales-lower-due-to-negative-economic-conditions.html)

At a press briefing organized by DEG, Warner Home Video & Sony Pictures Home Entertainment each put their estimates for total Blu-ray software sales in 2008 around $750 million.

I think this is inevitable considering the current economic climate. I think all industries will have to reasess projected sales figures, not just blu-ray.

I'd almost have to disagree. I see Blu-ray players going off of shelves fairly quickly. We have probably 50-60 Sony 350s at my store and we get shipments of 25+ regularly, so that shows you how much we sell, as what we get shipped is essentially what we are selling.

The article isn't about the sales of the players, but the media. Imho the discs are way too overpriced.

I agree. The players are now down to reasonable levels now but once people see the price of the discs a lot of people aren't interested. The software prices definatly needs to be reduced.

I work at Best Buy here in the US (I see you are a UK resident). Our store is fairly large as it in the only one within 100 miles.
