How often do snow/thunderstorms effect PQ?

I am getting Dish Network in 2 weeks. I've heard that weather is not a big issue, but a few people recently told me of freezing rain/wet snow getting stuck on the dish and that PQ can be effected. In your experiences, how often does this happen? Many thanks.
Chris

I live in AZ, freezing rain and wet snow sticking to the dish are pretty rare.

I live in Des Moines, IA. How about you folks here in Iowa and in the Northern states where it snows a lot?
Thanks,
Chris

I live in New York. We've had a few blizzards. I've had snow and ice stick to the dish, but it's never affected reception. Heavy torrential rain, though, will sometimes mess up reception from the 119 satellite, but that's the worst case scenario.

If I have reception over 100 only the biggest thunderstorms take out my reception or extreme snow storms.

Usually any interruptions are quite short in duration, like the initial few seconds of a downpour.
