I have a 24" LCD, Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP.

I have a child in the family that got mad and poured about a gallon of water on top of it.

At first, it turned on and displayed mostly everything OK except that there was this shady area at the bottom.

Now it turns on and immediately turns off. It also makes this sound.

Is this monitor permanently gone or will the water dry up and it will start working again?

Hmmm. Doubtful the monitor will ever work right again. H2O+electronics=not good. All you can do is dry and try.

OK, it turned on after a night near the fan:

However, I see this stuff on (inside) the screen. Will this water ever dry out?

Condensation will probably dry up but I'm certain it will leave some sort of coating ( causing a haze effect in affected areas)

Also the water/moisture is visible when looking from the top.
It's not visible when looking directly at it at a 90 degree angle.

Their are products available to rid the air of excess moisture ( at Homedepot) I would suggest getting some of this and putting it and the set inside a Lagre plastic garbage bag and keep it in a cool unlite spot to allow it to absord as much moisture as possible and possibly eliminate any staining.
