I had read that Dish was doing all Mpeg-4 but just starting out in certain markets. My city was not listed in those markets. Is this old news and now everyone is getting Mpeg-4?

It is old news, but the conversion has just started and right now only new customers in the NE US is being setup with it. The dishes for it were released this week. HD customers will be the first to get is as you need an mpeg4 receiver. SD customers will probably be among the last to see it.

So do current HD (622 & 722) systems have a dish that is capable of receiving MPEG-4 signals? I know the receivers are made for it....

Yeah, I stopped to chit chat with an installer here in northern Ohio(and tried to scab a free separator, no luck) and he showed me the new tri-lnb. It looked like the DirecTV units with a one piece triple and not the fragmented 3 piece my first edition 1000 dish is. I just thought I'd chime in b/c the new equip is spreading out to Ohio already, too and I wanna increase my post total, LOL.

To receive eastern arc you must have correct dish plus the new smart card for your receiver.
