Another VIP 622 Problem

08-12-2008, 02:01 PM
I'm having a new issue with the VIP 622 receiver.Almost every time I lose the signal from a approaching storm, I have to do a front panel reset. The signal will not come back by itself. It seems all of these problems, including the (weaker) signal strength meter started when they changed the meter. I may not be the smartest person in the world, but could someone explain, how I used to have 90-100% signal strength, without any problems unless we had a heavy storm. and now I only have 25-45%, and I lose my signal with every approaching storm, whether its heavy or not. DISH says it is the same as before, only the meter has changed. So does that mean if you now have 90 % signal strength you actually have 150% strength. How can you have more than 100% Both of my dishes have not moved, as they were marked when installed, and I have an unobstructed view to the heavens. I have a tech coming out tomorrow to check things out, but I am not very optimistic, as after 15 yrs with DISH, I have heard and seen it all, especially with some of the techs.. I will let you all know tomorrow what happens, that is if the tech shows up..........

Sounds like the dishes may have moved, not necessarily at the joints, but the base may have shifted or heaved.

Tech from Dish came today, checked everything, including the alignment of both dishes, all OK. Says its more of a software problem with the VIP 622, that Dish knows about, but won't admit...
