PS3 Exclusive already relegated in Japan...

Metal Gear Solid 4, one of the year's biggest titles, has already been spotted in bargain bins in Japan.

While the habits of retailers on distant shores may feel far removed from the UK market, the fact such a high profile game is already being sold new at a budget price in its homeland is a sign of the increasing pace of the industry worldwide.

It may be encouraging that a game has sold so quickly to a vast intended market that it has already reached a space in retail often reserved for games that long ago fulfilled their full price potential, but the sighting may also be cause for concern.

Finding it in the bargain bin in the US might convince me to purchase this title sooner than I expected...heres to hoping that happens here soon too ;)

Not even the author seems sure, though if I saw Halo 3 in a bargain bin 2 months after release I wouldn't exactly think it was good thing in terms of public perception.

MGS4 has got to be a top seller on eBay as well...

Install base was uber higher, as was the marketing campaign. So, yeah, thanks for stating the obvious on that one Cygnus.:o

Did the Japanese release get other content that our regular didn't? The box looks like the same thickness as our Limited Edition release, but with different artwork.

In todays market with trade ins being ever so prevalent, it does not really mean anything anymore.. Its all about the persons perception whether its a good or bad thing..

Not as many people are collecting regardless of how good the game is, most people know they will only play through it once or maybe twice but affter that it has to either have amazing Multi Player or its going the way of a trade in..

I think with Halo3 the majority of people bought it solely for MP, there are a lot of people who have played thousands of games online but have not even played single player or have played it but not finished it.. Same thing with COD4 people bought it for MP and as a bonus it had a nice quick single player story mode..

I have not heard anything good in regards to MGS4 MP, so I am guessing people are beating it and selling it/ trading it in..

I sort of agree with this. Being a super frugal shopper this generation as compared to previous generations no lie in one of my frequent EB stores 2-3 days after a game launches you can walk in and find 1 or 2 used copies. Does that mean the game sucks? Not really, but some gamers (like me last generations) burn through a game quickly and unlike me last generation are smart enough to realize they aren't going to play that game much more and trade it in while its value is at its peak (unless the game becomes ultra rare, try to find MGS3: Subsisitence in the wild now.)

Edge card == %10 off used games, on special occassions and with coupons, you can get up to %30 off used games, and since used games are already between $5-10 off new, it becomes addictive to buy your games like this.
