I am having a problem w/ my PS3, I don't play on it too often maybe a couple of hrs a week and a Blu Ray here and there, only had it about 1 1/2 months. I have tried using it w/ HDMI and Componant and nothing displays. It seems it all turns on correctly, I get the green and the blue light, but no display.

Please help!

Thanks.

what were you using to display it (ie HDMI, component)when it was displaying properly?

If you changed it without changing the display settings you will just get a blank screen.. Hope that helps

I don't mean to state the obvious, but I don't want to assume anything. Have you checked the connection?

How are you connecting? Is it possible that the display settings got changed to something your TV isn't capable of?

Worst Case, you can do a display refresh. Push and hold the power button on the front of the PS3 until it beeps twice. This will force the PS3 to auto detect the connection type, and refresh the display settings.

Ditto. If that doesn't do it, something in your PS3 is toasted.

Just for kicks, what kind of TV is it hooked up too?

I just got the tv as well 42" Panny Plasma, the model is in under my name....I think. I had it hooked up as HDMI, I don't think any of my settings were changed, although I do have a wife and a 9 month old that seems to be fascinated w/ remote controls (ahhh yes a tech head in the making :D)

Nothing was unplugged, until I had something wrong. I tried resetting it as well, but to no avail. I am going to call PS tomorrow, I hope they have good CS!

Any other suggestions are welcome.

did you try one of the other HDMI ports on the TV? Also, it could be the cable. Does the cable work with other HDMI gear?

Although I am stating the obvious, are you sure the TV is on the correct input?

try hooking it up to antoher TV in your house. this will rule out that your new TV is not the problem. If it works on another TV then you know what the problem is.

Ugh, only had the thing for a month and a half and already have to send it into Sony. This is ridiculous, anyone ever complained enough to get it expidited? They told me 7 to 10 days AFTER they recieve mine!!!!! Kinda sucks, I am out on knee surgery, good thing I play COD4 on my PC. What about all my games and everything I had on there and my saves? I get no display, so I can't even back them up on a thumb drive, god this is more of a nightmare than I thought!

Any suggestions? I would just take it back to BB but it is past the 30 day return policy, about 45 days out right now.

Try this. Do you still have the composite (red/white/yellow) cables that came with the PS3?

If so, disconnect everything from the PS3.
Connect the Power Plug.
Connect the Composite cable.
Connect the composite cable (yellow only for now) to an input in your TV.)
Put the TV to that input channel.
Hold down the Power Button on the PS3 (the one on the front near the drive) for 5 seconds, or until you hear the PS3 beep twice.

Look at your TV, the PS3 should have auto detected the video input and since you are using the yellow composite it should default to 480i, which should cause no handshake, resolution limits, or any of those other variables that can cause display issues.

Good luck.

Well, I got a brand new one....errr or maybe a refurbished one, and lost all my saved games, updates, and downloads. Guess I am going to start saving once a week to a flash drive. Live and Learn!

ONLY took 3 weeks for the total turn around......PATHETIC!!!!!!!

I was more disapointed I couldn't watch Blu Ray than I was not playing the games (I play COD4 on computer, blows PS3 AWAY!!!!!!)

notice how he never took anyones advice I call hate thread nice one though only diss the ps3 for no reason when they at least fixed it so you should be happy instead of saying COD 4 on PC is way better nice one.

WTF?????
Dude, ease up!!!! I did try everything everyone told me, just cause I didn't post my life story on here doesn't mean I didn't try it. Sony sent a box the next week and I packed it up and off it went. I couldn't do anything else after it left my house, (or do I need to go into detail in how I packaged it?)

Waiting 3 weeks for a PS3 to be "fixed" is not acceptable in my book, especially when I have only had it for 6 weeks. Why should I be happy that they fixed it? It was within the (1) year warranty, they should "fix" or in this case replace it.

What is wrong w/ making a comment about what I like and enjoy? I love my PS3 for sports games and as a Blu Ray player.

Why did you even make the comment in the first place? Your comment gave no positive feedback or helpful insight into the issue at hand. Contribute positively or ignore the issue! Ass!!!!

I was just wondering if my screen is hdcp and has dvi plug, can i plus my ps3 and get sound. i also have a tv card in my computer, in which i would be able to plug the av cable. But will all i have to do be plus my ps3 via a hdmi-dvi cable to my monitor and plug the av cable to my computer, that way i will get sound too. This is the screen i will get:Samsung SyncMaster 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor (2232BW). I also have an hdmi input in my computer. Would i work if i pluged my ps3 to my computer via hdmi cable? Would that be the most convinient? And how would i get my ps3 going if that were so. I mean what would i have to do.
Please help!

Thanks

You would get a better response if you made your own thread, as well as made what you want to do more clear, that confused me. I have no idea what you are trying to do, sry.

If you have a DVI to HDMI cable, I'd say try plugging your PS3 to your Monitor via that. If I remember right, that Samsung model should have 2dvi inputs and 1vga.

It should also run at 720p without an issue. The only time I see you running into an HDCP problem is if you try to watch a movie on it. But it should be HDCP compliant as it is over the DVI interface.

Sound wise, just hook up whatever you got (SPDIF/COMPOSITE) the way you mentioned to your PC. Make sure you are using the INPUT connection.

As for an HDMI in on your PC, sorry I haven't come across a PC with an HDMI in yet. Only HDMI out. Do you use a capture card of some sort?

Good luck.
