D*TV's HDTV price break I got!

I called DirecTV up yesterday and decided to take the plunge now that I have my 52" JVC 52Z585. The guy I talked to was really knowledgeable and I was ready to pay out my $400 for the package (receiver, dish, and OTA antenna) when he gives me a break!

He took $100 off and billed it to my account, so my out of pocket yesterday was $0! My install date is this Friday afternoon, so once I get it hooked up I'll be good to go. Of course I jumped the gun and bought an HDMI cable without knowing which box I'll get - I still have the receipt just in case!

 Unless my math is wrong, you say you were going to pay $400. The guy takes $100 off so your net is now $0. Doesn't 400-100=300?? If you will, please explain so we can all take advantage of your good fortune.

I think what he said was he received $100 discount and the remaining balance they would bill him in X consecutive months, thats how I read it.

Greg is right - sorry about that. I meant to say that I don't have to shell out any money now as if I had gone to a retailer. I've been billed for the equipment via my DirecTV account.

Well, after 5 hours (!) it's done and it looks magnificent! Four of those hours were spent trying to find out why we couldn't get a signal from the sat at 119 degrees. It turned out that my neighbor's roof just barely blocked the LNB. Moving the dish a few inches to the left fixed it. BTW, they did have to swap my first H10 with a second one that works fine.

Another side note - the installer that came out Friday could not mount the OTA antenna I requested, so I called DirecTV and told them about it. They're sending a different installer to do it on Monday. I have an amplified indoor antenna right now, but I'll return it on Monday.

When I got hooked up I paid around 220 for the h10 box and 50 for the OTA Ant. I got another room done for free with basic Sat.

I think they were trying to trick you into thinking you were getting a deal, cause it sounds like basically you got the same thing I did and it was not a special.

I called DirecTV yesterday and got a $250 credit on my DirecTV bill when I signed up for the HD package, plus 3 free months of the HD package. I paid a little over a $100 for my receiver so I have come out about $180 ahead.
It's a one year committment so after the 3 months free I have to pay $10.99 for nine months so it still seems like they are paying me $80 to watch HD....

I'm not sure if I should start a new thread or just post my question here, so here goes. I have Tivo and love it but now I'm ready to get HDTV and I don't want to upgrade my Tivo to HD at this time. What would be the best way to go? My Sammy has several inputs so that's not an issue.
