NetFlix kills profiles

We wanted to let you know we will be eliminating Profiles, the feature that
allowed you to set up separate DVD Queues under one account, effective
September 1, 2008.

Each additional Profile Queue will be unavailable after September 1, 2008.
Before then, we recommend you consolidate any of your Profile Queues to your
main account Queue or print them out.

While it may be disappointing to see Profiles go away, this change will help
us continue to improve the NetFlix website for all our customers.

"improve"?????????? How does this impove the experiance?:banghead: This is the first major blunder NetFlix has done in a long time. Does Blockbust offer something like profiles, if it does I'd consider switching.

I do... My family uses it and loves it... We each get our own list... So if I want something I put it on my list, if my wife wants something she puts it on her list... Little sister wants something, she puts it on her list... That way there is no bickering over, "you were supposed to put this on the list", "you bumped your movie in front of mine" and on and on...

I LOVED this feature and I'm very sad to see it go!!!

Please contact customer service and let them know. Maybe this lunicy can be reversed.

I suspect one reason is 'generally' one person makes most of the movie choices (for the household) they go at it by asking "What do you want to watch this weekend?".. and family members throw titles at them. Then they add them to the queue..and that's it.
Netflix constantly asks me to rate movies, etc. I sometimes do if it's something I really thought sucked or was exceptional. But most the time I don't pay much attention to their recommendations tailored for 'me' other than a casual glance.
That's a lot of overhead and software they could streamline, no doubt. And they are likely not finding significant numbers of subscribers making use of these features.
Maybe they need a dual menu. A direct one for most people who want to go to a specific title all the time, and another for profile users.
Obviously what's cheaper will win out. Especially in this socio-economic climate we find ourselves.

I've only been with N so long, that's why I finally noticed. I'm a typical male shopper, I know what I want, go in and get it and leave.
Home Depot, Target, Netflix, .... it's all the same. :D

I will miss this. My wife and I started using it late last year so we could each get the movies we wanted. It helped keep movies from sitting at home going unwatched because I didn't want to watch her movies.

The customer service agent sugested replacing the profiles with seperate accounts! Compare "4 at a time" to 4 "1 at a time", ya that's what this is really about.

Message: KEEP PROFILES... Netflix dropping profiles is really a step backwards in my (and many peoples as Im reading) opinion. It was nice that there was no fighting in my house about who got which movie next. If they didnt get the movie they wanted they should have moved it up in their own Queue... Please dont give me the response of just open another acct as youve been telling others. Financially thats just a rip off compared to the option of having profiles available. It wont happen. Ive been reading that several people are now looking to Block Buster to see if they have this option available and if they do that theyll be jumping ship. One of my favorite things about netflix and its going away. Netflix who could do no wrong I thought has made a huge mistake getting rid of profiles.

I didnt care either way since I didnt even knew they existed but props to them for actually listening to the consumer.. Not many companies keep their ear to the ground anymore :(
