WGNHD now on DISH

My daughter (DISH subscriber) called to "rub-it-in" that they now have WGN in HD. It's time for a Email barrage on DIRECTV...even Canadian viewers have WGN HD. They already have TBS & TNT, with "no plans" for WGN...must be a 'money' thing. DIRECTV claims to be the superior choice for HD.

DIRECTV is the superior choice for HD.

I really doubt an Email barrage on DIRECTV will do anything, but go for it.

I agree with the original poster. DirecTV is really slacking as of late. Bandwidth issues or not....and the new bird is flying. What's the holdup? Also, why not get rid of the least watched channels? I know they keep track of those kind of statistics. I pay for 20 or more shopping, educational, and religion channels that I don't watch. I'm sure most, if not all of you do the same.

You really don't understand any of this, do you. I don't call this slacking at all. Where were you last year when all of the new HD stuff was being turned on ? Direct 11 is flying and IF you paid attention to what is being posted about it at the DBSTalk forum, then you would understand maybe a little bit about what is going on. Direct 11 is in a testing phase. It remained in one spot for a period of time and over the past week it has moved to another test location. Do not expect any transmissions from Direct 11 until maybe August. September seems more likely.

Your daughter, nor any DISH subscriber, has anything to "rub in" when it comes to Directv subscribers. I think it's pretty funny that she called to rub-it-in on one channel that she gets and we don't. I bet we'll have it in September among many more that she won't be privy to.

I do know that D11 is in testing and not to expect it until sometime in the fall. I was ecstatic just like everyone else amidst the great addition of new HD channels from D10 over the last 6-12 months. I was merely commenting on my opinion about some of the channels I feel are worthless that are using the little precious bandwidth available. Unfortunately I do not frequent DBSTalk forum so I will never be as cool as you. But thanks for being an @$$hole.

Well I watched Nash Bridges reruns on them for a little while till I noticed they were editing the episodes. Now I will just wait till they start releasing the seasons on DVD later this year.

IS WGN's news in HD? That would be worth watching. And what about Bulls games? Again, worth tuning in for.

I'm pretty sure the Shopping channels pay DIRECTV to carry them so you are not paying for any shopping channels.

Cubs games, good luck with that:lol: ...by the way there is no comparison at all, D* is far better than dish. NFL ticket alone is the reason to have D* ,still no YES network(whats the wait) and other channels....:)

What's so good about Cub games? Go Brewers! :)

As a Dish customer, I would be happy to trade WGN-HD for all the HD channels on DirecTV. WGN really doesn't do much for people outside of Chicago. If they wanted to become more of a national channel, they would attempt to strike a deal with MLB, similar to the one TBS has. TBS has become a national channel, dropping Braves games for their new MLB package. Also, WGN's news is a Chicago newscast. Most of the North American population outside of Chicago doesn't really care about the news and weather in Chicago.

The Blackhawks will be shown on WGN starting this fall for mostly Sunday games. I would expect them to be added to the line-up once the other satellite is up. Then you will have Cubs, Sox, Bulls, and Hawks all on WGN.

I think I watch either the Knicks or the Nets on YesHD, but since I have the NBA Season Pass I don't even need it. As for ESPN U, this definitely needs the HD treatment. Currently on a HDTV it looks like hell, probably one of the worst SD channels I have watched on a HD set. And they love to show a couple Tar Heel hoops games on there every season. It drives me crazy. Whenever they do I pull out my trusty 19" Emerson out of the garage and hook it up. That channel looks great on that.

IMO DirecTv should have "Al-a-Cart" for all Channel's. it would be cool to go to the web site and from a list with check boxs you can pick ONLY the Channel's YOU want and the site can show you just how mush that would cost. Make your own Package. As little as 10 Channel's to as many as you want or "All". :)

I think Dish does this but not from there web site. and I think there's are Set packages.

I think Dish offers it but I want a HD only package. I have my channels pretty much setup to that anyways.

That's because you are a Brewer fan. The Cubs have millions of fans all over the country, they're one of the most well-traveled fan bases in the world.

I would have to agree, as I don't watch WGN for anything. I'm only a NFL fan. So getting WGN in HD doesn't matter to me. I'm sure I would find something to watch on it, as I LOVE HD! lol

Is anyone else tired of this? No matter what the subject matter is, when the Cubs are mentioned, there's always this guy. It's like the guy that always has the comeback "your mom!" when he's been outwitted.:horse:
