DirecTVs HDPPV policy

Is it generally know that DirecTV only gives you a 24 hour window to watch PPV movies? I ordered and recorded Cloverfield in HD a week ago and didn't get around to watching it until last night and it only played the first few minutes or so. I called DirecTV and they said I only had 24 hours to watch it even if I didn't start it (like renting from Apple). I remember renting Transformers in December and just deleted it last month and I watched it a few times.

Directv announced this a couple of months ago. It was the movie studio's decision, not theirs. The 24-hr clock should not have started until you start to view the recording.

Sounds like that's not the way it turned out this time.

Don't know for sure, since the OP had it recorded for a week. Maybe they watched a few minutes of it, then waited until the next day, then resumed watching, then it expired.

I don't know for sure either but the OP said they didn't get around to watching it till last night and it only played the first few minutes of it.

I wonder if the OP just hit the record buttton but didn't really order it or buy it. That would explain it only playing a few minutes of it. If the OP had ordered it and recorded it you'd think the DVR would have asked - Do you wish to purchase this ?(or whatever the message is) the first time the OP played it. If it had expired you'd think it would have deleted it from the list of programs to watch or stated some very clear message about the recording being expired.

I don't have my reciever attached to a phone line so I have to call to get the PPV ordered. I can't just select it on the remote. Makes me wonder if CS didn't order the movie as I was not charged for it.

My question now is if a movie is ordered, recorded and watched within a 24 hour period is it removed from the playlist automatically?
