Sony vs Sharp for 32" LCD??

06-11-2008, 02:07 PM
The two sets in question are:

Sony KDL-32M3000 vs Sharp LC32sb24u

They are both the same price but are located at different retailers and I cant see them side by side. Anybody have any light to shed on which one they would choose and why? Thanks in advance!

Iīve got the Sony KDL-32M3000, very good set IMO, I got it from Walmart about $680.

Very good PQ, I havenīt seen the Sharp so I canīt comment on it.

Keep in mind that the M3000 is a 2007 model while the SB24 is a 2008. The 2008 Sony models are KDL-32M4000 and KDL-32L4000. 2008 models have HDMI 1.3.

Personally, I like the looks of the Sharp. I am curious about the styling of the the M4000 Series as all the other 2008 Sonys have a similar styling.

I looked at both of these (though not sure in 32' size, may have been 37") and couldn't tell any difference PQ-wise - both looked really sharp.

I just picked up the 32L4000 Bravia from Best Buy for $699. Its 12 months 0% interest, so from what I've researched, it was the best buy I could find. I don't have a Costco card and will NEVER shop at Walmart... so,

I find the Bravia just amazing. Its in the bedroom and we've yet to get a BluRay player, so we still have a regular DVD player, but the TV makes the standard def movies really look great. The best I've ever seen for standard def. I keep reminding myself that its just the old DVD player and that I still have to upgrade.

Its beautiful (nice glass window accent under screen) and the sound is great too.
