if u really want EVERYTHING directv has to offer get an HD-DVR upgrade to the premier package add HD access DIRECTV HD extra pack if your into sports i definitely recommend subscribing to a package such as NFL sunday ticket superfan and finally if possible connect your HD-DVR to your router you'll get DOD good luck!

There are 2 HD receiver models. The H20 is silver and has OTA capability and the H21 (black) does not. The 2 HD-DVR models are the HR20 (silver) and HR21 (black). The HR20 has OTA capability, but the HR21 needs another piece of hardware to receive OTA (AM21). The numbers after the dash (ex: -100) are just the manufacturer code. Other than the chassis color and OTA, both HD-DVR's (and HD rcvrs) are the same.

Over The Air ... This allows you to attach an antenna for your local channels. Remember "rabbit ears?" Most of us get our locals off the satellite and don't need/want the OTA capability.

Use the link below to acess Directv's local channel lookup screen and enter your zipcode. If you have channels listed in the HD column, you can get your HD locals through the satellite dish, and don't have to worry about OTA. If Directv is not sending your HD locals and you are close to the transmitting towers, you could get HD locals through an antenna. If you are not listed, there is a good chance the HD locals will be added within the next year using the latest satellite launched back in March.
