NBA Finals Picture Problems

06-05-2008, 09:13 PM
Anyone else seeing the picture freeze-ups? and jumpy? Kinda like a slow computer loading something. Here in Houston through HR20 on both OTA and Sat.

Yep I'm seeing it. Think KTRK's encoders need some more voltage, or the network is having problems.

Maybe someone somewhere else will say if they are having issues.

I saw that too. It was like flashes and picture distortion. I kinda got annoyed.

No problems with the picture (Boston area) but every once in a while the sound would drop out for about a second.

I also got the audio getting loud, than decreasing. Non of the other channels were affected.

It would be helpful to know where and how you get your signal. I suspect it was a station issue in Houston.

I saw it to on Ch. 8 Dallas/Fort Worth. I tried the antenna channel and then the Dish channel, same thing on both. I only got to watch a few minutes though so I can't say how long it lasted. The problems I saw occurred in the early going, the score was tied 10-10 and I got to see about 5 minutes worth.

Did not notice any sounds problems, only picture.

The picture looked fine and no issues the whole game here in Florida, And the final score looked splendid in all it's HD glory.

Hi BigDuly:

I'm in western North Carolina. My high def picture was perfect. However, the audio got loud then decreased to being inaudible thru out the entire game. It seemed to stay more on the inaudible end as opposed to becoming annoyingly loud.

I experienced the exact same issue during game one.

I'm wondering if our local ABC stations, WXLV ABC45 is having some sort of technical problems with the high def feed.

When I switched over to WXLV's normal non high def broadcast of the game, the audio was perfectly fine. Just not a good picture since no longer high def.

I've got Time Warner cable if that matters. I'm betting its the local station. Surely ABC wouldn't do such a horrible job as this!

I also got the audio getting loud, than decreasing. Non of the other channels were affected.

I forgot to note that none of my other high def channels were affected...only ABC.

Picture completely froze at end of game (last 10 seconds) but audio played on ok so I got to hear if LA made a comeback, (Go Celtics Go) here in Sacramento, Calif, thought it was the local mpeg4 bandwidth problem but apparently it was not just here.

Some of the Sac locals have a pretty small allowed bandwidth apparently, I see some pixeling and the encoding in dark areas is very poor/noisy beyond expected on some channels (all HD). Sometimes the picture is pretty poor overall (color, noise, blockingetc), just switched from the San Francisco locals and they were quite good, odd? No longer in SF spot so had to switch!

Still they beat SD by a gazzilion miles but not the best HD to be seen!!

Im in Tracy, CA and same thing happend to me, picture froze w/ about 5 seconds left. Also the audio was very low each time coming back from commercial, almost took about 2 or 3 minutes to get back to normal.

I only watched parts of the game last night and I saw sections of the screen for just a moment be blurry. It was quite annoying and happened mostly by the graphic showing the score. I flipped back and forth to my OTA connection and it never happened with them so it's somehow related to DTV or who they get the feed from I would guess.

In Houston, 100% of the time in the first 3 games when either team is driving under the basket the action is blurred or digitized. Only live action (no replays) and only motion under the baskets. Now in game 4 it's happening all the time. We have watched all the playoffs on TNT and ESPN and have not seen this on either of those channels. It's hard to watch. What is the problem? WE have no audio issue, only skipped motion all the time.

I saw a green blur right down the lane and under the basket.........then I realized it was Ray Allen cutting in for a layup and helping seal game 4.

I'm kinda thinking it's my local channel 7 (ABC) because I sometimes see it on other programs to a lesser degree. I've never seen it on any of the other channels, they are quite good.
Again, OTA does not exhibit the problem.
