So the crappy number two film (which I will not even use its proper name since it was just a cash in) will be coming to Blu-Ray as well..

Well I may only spring for Marauder since I have the first one on Blu from the UK and I dont know if I even want to see the second film again.. I guess it all depends on Amazons pricing though..

what part 2 is this you are all speaking of? there is only one Starship Troopers film, and it convinced me to part with $700 for a player to get the Blu-ray ver

This second part must be in your imaginations... <_< >_>

****has blocked out the fact that a """sequel""" (used in the loosest possible sense) was ever made for the best movie of all time.

The third sounds intriguing though, looks like I've got my first HD double dip in Starship Troopers due to the extra features on the Sony Region A release (which I am... *foolishly?* assuming will be region free) and hopefully the second starship troopers film due out this summer will also be region free :D

Spot on IMO. Buena Vista did a stellar job and it certainly doesn't look over a decade old. I'd give it 4 outta 5. Only downside to it is it's a "barebones" release and just has the DVD extras which at $60 is pretty ouch... it was worth it just to have Starship Troopers in 1080p for me though.

I will have to second Mikes opinion, this was a stellar release and I dont see how it could get any better speaking of the upcoming US Blu-Ray release..

Starship Troopers in HD=  :yippee:

I'm curious to see if they will improve the PQ over the already fantastic BV release.

Well you know how internet gossip is but thats what I keep reading about.. I personally dont see how one can make that film look any better then it already is, if there are improvements I dont think I would even be able to point them out even if I knew where to look..

Thanks. I will definatly be picking it up now. I can live without any decent extras, as long as the film looks good i'm happy!

Well Sony just bumped it but only by a week, I think they said August 5th will be the new date for Starship Troopers and the Trilogy :(

I wonder what prompted them to do this? Why not day and date with the new film, why wait a week?

I'm going to assume it was the low quality video trailer, but the bugs looked AWFUL!

Anyone got a link for an HD trailer?

I'd be happy with the first one and only the first one, especially since the second one was so awful.

Yep, I refuse to pay these high prices for a BD player and I am not buying a game console when my PC plays games with better graphics. I will wait until I can get a 1.1 player for around $200 (after tax) or a 2.0 for around $300 (after tax).

But the games console is the best movie player on the market of pretty much any format, plays games you can't get on PC, works as a damn good media centre etc... the only problem I could ever understand anyone having with it, would be lack of Infra Red, though hardly a reason to deny yourself given you can work around it, and the console design, but it could have been far worse.

Tis your choice though, just seems like an odd one to me.

I haven't owned a game console in nearly 10 years since the Nintendo 64. At about that time I found that PC games were usually cheaper than console games. I even did some comparing at Wal-Mart the other day and noticed that a new PS3 or Wii game costs about $60-70 dollars. I can get a new PC game for about $25-40 dollars either online or at Wal-Mart. Plus, on top of that, my PC through my awesome video cared still produces better graphics than the PS3 and XBOX and my PC is about 3 years old, several things such as RAM have been added to it.

I will more than likely wait for the Magnavox 1.1 Player (Funai made) to come down around $200 after tax or the Panasonic BD-50 to come down around $300 after tax, whichever comes first.

I see what you're saying, but my gripe with PC gaming is you just can't get the software I want to play on them, and when you can half the time they turn out to be inferior due to shoddy cheap ports :(

Well, my favorite games are the Medal of Honor and Call of Duty series. I also dabble in the Total War series, the Sims series, and just about every Sid Meier's game. I actually play games better with a keyboard and mouse than I do with a console controller. I have had the same old track and ball mouse for gaming for about 5 years and it still works great. For some reason a wireless or optical mouse just doesn't respond quick enough in most games for my liking.

Starship Troopers 2 was awful. Absolutly no desire for it. The first I always liked for its over the top action and violence.
