80GBs are in low supply from what I've been reading. Sony has mentioned they will increase production (as they didn't expect it to be in such high demand with the 40GB available.)

Expect a strong slew of 80GBs to ship within the end of the month with MGS4 packed in. Wait for that bundle if you are in the market for a PS3 (MGS4+DS3+80GBPS3==$500)

The major difference between the 40GB and 80GB is PS2 compatability. The 80GB offers some (about 70%) while the 40GB offers zero.

If you have some PS2 games you want to play, dip for the 80GB. But if you don't mind having a PS2 out next to the PS3 or have no interest ever in PS2 games, get the 40GB. (I still say wait for the MGS4 bundle, if anything sell the game.)

It is well worth the investment, in my opinion.

You get a decent product with multiple uses. It can easily become the nexus in your living room, from movie watcher, to spiffy stereo system, and even surf the net on the fly.

Anyways, if you are interested in Blu-Ray movies, then it is by far the best player out there. I've yet to run into any playback issues, and there are none of those 1-2minute load times you read about for other SALs.

Its the HD hub for my TV. From photos, home movies, movie trailers, demos, games and bluray movies, it does it all. Now Wii sits ideal next to it, only played with people come over.

Well Sony screwed me!

If any of you saw my "stroll down memory lane thread" I decided to whip out a few oldies.

I got about 2hrs into Chrono Trigger when my girlfriend decided she wanted to go to bed, but she was enjoying the game so she asked me to play upstairs in the bedroom.

PS2 up there, with PS1 support - no biggie. BUT! PS2 doesn't use any kind of removeable memory and the PS3 has no PS1/PS2 memory slots. HAHA.

So I either keep dragging the PS3 upstairs, buy a new one for upstairs, or buy that $15 dollar memory card adapter.

Hmmm....
