HR 21 Recording Problem

05-21-2008, 03:46 PM
My HR 21 suddenly decided to stop taping shows that it has been recording for months. They show up in the history as "cancelled" with the note that the "program was no longer available". If I caught it doing that on time. You could tune to the show and hit record and it saved it.
I called D* and they had be verify I had the latest software and had me do a reset. That did not work. Now they want me to do a reset everything which will erase all that I have saved. Before I loose all my shows for nothing, has anyone else had this issue. The rep I talked to the first time said she has heard of this but the guy the second day had not.

Is this an OTA recording? I've had that happen when recording an OTA channel and the signal strength was bouncing up and down.

That's probably the only thing I could think of as well. Unless things were recording during a storm. I know in Northern VA, we've been getting some nasty storms, and my signal has gone in and out.

Not an OTA issue. It has plenty of signal. When I reconized the shows were not recording, I tuned to the channels and started both of them and manually hit record and it works.

I'm also having a problem with my recordings. Sometimes when I go to watch a show that I have recorded all I see is a blank gray screen. This has happened quite a few times now.

I don't think it's my recorder because a few of my friends are having the same problem. It seems to be the Fox hd channel and one of my local hd channels. I'm really getting upset by this because one of the shows that I'm having a problem with is Boston Legal which you can't watch on the computer. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks, Kathy

I have that problem as well. It is not just with certaim channels, it is with random ones. Customer Service is aware of this problem and supposedly fixed it with a software update on 5/13.

Well I guess that update made things worse on my end. I just wish they would leave things alone. Everytime they do an update they screw something else up. Ugh!
